About Us

Women’s Agency Research Centre Nepal (WARN), is a leading rights based organization of Nepali women and was established in 2012. The main aim of this organization is to empower women agency in all developmental sectors with respect to human rights principals. The women who are involved in activities of women’s rights and liberation movements for a long time came together and collectively started to work for this organization. Nepalese women have been experiencing patriarchal domination for a long time. Even in the current multiparty democracy system, women are not given equal power and position at the decision making level despite being stated in the constitution. Now Nepal is in a transitional state of republican system, but women are still facing various problems in the educational, health, political, economic sector and constantly face social discrimination.

As per CBS, 2011, 52%of the total population is women. Despite making up over half of the national population, women’s participation in different sectors provisioned in the constitution is only 33%. Even though, in most of the forums and sectors women’s participation is negligible; it shows that there is visible discrimination in government appointments to take women in policy making positions. Gender equality is addressed in the law, but millions of women still have no access to justice. They are facing lots of mental and physical problems and procedural obstacles to access opportunities.
